Doomed to Fail (I have had 4 of these lamp heads fail due to a cheap plastic part breaking) These track lights were installed by the builder in my new home. While I like the design and appearance of these track lights, the base (the black cubic area that connects to the track) is made of cheap plastic which breaks (fractures). In the past few years, I have needed to replace four of these heads due to the exact same failure. Work, but tricky to get initially installed and placing some lamps into them can be harder. Works – though the spring clip retaining is a problem with finned/non-smooth lamps such as the LED lamps that use the outside surface of the lamp shape as a heatsink and have ridges. That is a problem of the lamp design and not necessarily the gimbal lamp mount -though a different retaining system could compensate.Interestingly enough, getting the them to work initially took several tries.
