Not Universal! When my husband and I removed the mostly useless light that came with the fan in our house, we were surprised to see a plastic connection where the light and the fan wires connected. We were used to using the plastic caps over 2 interwined wires. Not knowing what to expect with this light, we were thrilled to see that it had the same connection, so we just plugged the fan wire end into the light wire end, re-assembled the base of the fan and we were done.
