The Light at the Edge of the World
Brutal pirates take over a lighthouse on a rocky island. They then execute a plan to crash incoming ships on the shore and pillage their wrecks. A lone member of the lighthouse crew survives, desperately fighting to stay alive. When a beautiful maiden is shipwrecked and captured, he must decide whether to save her or himself.
Horribly Low-grade Transfer
Unusually graphic film of a Jules Verne novel Most Jules Verne books are rather innocent, but this film adaptation of his Le Phare du Bout du Monde (1905) is dark and vicious, with a man being flayed alive on a hook. Thus it ventures from an extraordinary voyage to a horror film. And a horror film is what I would call it, on the survivalist sub-genre aspect. I found it disconcerting to watch, and would not recommend for those looking for something like In Search of the Castaways. I must admit I have not read the novel, but I do know that…
